Souls on the Banks of the Acheron by Adolf Hiremy Hirschl

Hirschl’s painting depicts Hermes receiving souls on the banks of the Acheron, preparing to help them cross into the Underworld. 

Hermes bringing Pandora to Epimetheus by Jean Alaux

Alaux’s painting depicts the moment Hermes delivered Pandora to Epimetheus, the brother of Prometheus. Hermes is said to have gifted Pandora with lies, seductive words and dubious character.
