Issue II: hermes (the kaleidoscope)
Free Verse Revolution’s Summer issue will be titled and themed around Hermes, a multi-faceted god linked to the underworld, trickery and mischief, shepherds and being the herald of the gods. Think kaleidoscopic and abstract. The deadline for submissions is May 21st, 2021.
For this issue, we are accepting poetry, short prose (200-600 words), creative non-fiction (max. 800 words), visual art and photography.
Email your submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org (there is an email template below if you wish to use it).
All pieces submitted should interpret the theme in some way and ideally not use the Issue title to title submissions. You will be asked to come up with a new title if the piece is named ‘Hermes’ / ‘The Kaleidoscope’, this is to avoid repetition across the publication. Please read the guidelines for each type of submission carefully. On acceptance, you will also be asked to provide a short bio.
All written submissions must be submitted on a Word document or Google doc. Any other format will not be accepted.
Poetry: you may submit up to four pieces for consideration but multiple submissions must be given a page each. Poems should not exceed 40 lines.
Prose: you may submit up to two pieces for consideration.
Creative non-fiction: you may only submit once piece for consideration.
Visual art and photography: creators may submit up to five images for consideration. Images should be crisp and 300 DPI.
